Prospecting: Calling Your Home Business Leads

When I first started in Network Marketing I remember being terrified when it came time to call my leads.  Initially, I purchased leads so that I could started right away and, in essence, practice my handy dandy script provided by my company. Unfortunately it took me some time to really understand what I was supposed to do when calling my leads.  I was more worried about following the script properly and saying the right thing about the company,and worried about difficult questions I might encounter.
 
What I finally came to understand is that calling your prospect is just a conversation. I actually enjoyed the conversations a lot more when I just threw out the script, and just talked to people.  You work very hard to generate leads and get traffic to your website and when some people respond, you simply call and have a conversation. I soon discovered that just having a conversation was not enough, though, I had to stop focusing on me and my needs and concentrate completely on what my prospect was looking for and what they were hoping to achieve. I came to understand that not everybody was looking for my business opportunity and not everyone was right for it.
 
So how do you have a conversation with your prospect and focus on them, simple, you ask them questions, and you listen!  Just listen to what they say, and ask questions based on what you just heard.  Just about every script out there for any business is going to cover the basic questions:  Why do you want a home based business, what do you do for a living now, what is your annual income right now, what do you want your annual income to be  6, or 12 months from now. You ask about their family, what they would do if they were making the amount of money they wanted to make.  Ask them how $100,000 would change their life? Best thing to do is just go with the flow.  Maybe you've visited the city they live in, or you know something about the work they currently do.
 
You see, business is about providing value and serving the customer before yourself.  If you provide value to others then you will get back what you want in return. It's so much easier to talk to people that want to hear from you.
